OLIVET, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College softball team swept The University of Olivet in a doubleheader Wednesday afternoon, 5-3 and 8-0.
Game One – Kalamazoo 5, Olivet 3
Kalamazoo scored three runs in the top of the first and led 5-1 after the second inning. Olivet made it 5-3 with a run in the fourth before scoring another run in the bottom of the seventh. The Comets had a runner on and the tying run at the plate when the game ended on a groundout to the pitcher.
Each team had nine hits in the game.
Brenna Fisher went 3-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored.
Bella Caza also had three hits with two RBIs.
Shelby Bennett doubled for Kalamazoo's only extra base hit.
Jordan Cook went the distance in the circle with six strikeouts in the win.
Game Two – Kalamazoo 8, Olivet 0
Kalamazoo scored two in the first, two in the second and three in the third to take a 7-0 lead.
Jordan Wesaw's sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fifth drove in the game-ending run.
Kalamazoo outhit Olivet 8-3.
Jordan Wesaw finished 3-for-3 with a double and four RBIs.
Macy Ward also had a double.
Brenna Fisher had a hit with two RBIs and two runs scored.
Shelby Bennett scored three times.
Maddy Vrba earned her sixth win of the season striking out seven in the shutout.
