Kalamazoo, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College men's lacrosse team came up short in its final home game of the season, falling to Hope College 13-7 on Tuesday night. The Hornets now sit at 6-6 overall and 1-4 in MIAA conference play.
The Dutchmen jumped out to an early 5-1 lead in the first period before the Hornets cut the deficit to 8-4 heading into halftime. Hope held onto the lead as they outscored Kalamazoo 5-3 in the second half.
Hope held the advantage in shots (47-31) and ground balls (47-39), while Kalamazoo held a slight lead in face offs (12-11).
Grayson Pratt led the Hornets' offense with a career-high of three goals, followed by
Dylan Adkins with two goals.
Cam VanGalder and
Mitchel VanGalder each found the back of the net for Kalamazoo.
Brody Quinn paced the team with eight ground balls and went 12-for-20 on faceoffs.
Jack Bungart contributed six ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Goalie
Tony Valade made 18 saves in net, tying him for fourth-most in a single game in program history.
