ALBION, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College baseball team lost its MIAA opener 7-6 at Albion on Friday.
The host Britons scored six runs in the bottom of the second inning before adding a run in the sixth to take a 7-0 lead. Kalamazoo battled back with five runs in the seventh and one in the eighth to make it 7-6. The Hornets had a runner reach second in the ninth before the final two outs were recorded.
Albion finished with 10 hits compared to nine by the Hornets.
Tanner Hawkins led Kalamazoo with three hits and an RBI.
Cooper Mills finished with two hits.
Caleb Moore singles and drove in two runs.
Robert Newland singled and scored two runs.
Logan Lockhart had a double.
Kalamazoo and Albion are scheduled to complete the doubleheader in Kalamazoo on Saturday, March 29, beginning at 10 a.m.
