KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College men's lacrosse team suffered a 12-5 loss to Carthage on Saturday afternoon, bringing their season record to 4-1.
Carthage took an early 2-0 lead within the first three minutes of the game, but the Hornets responded with back-to-back goals to tie the game at two. The Firebirds held a narrow 5-4 advantage heading into halftime, before outscoring the Hornets 7-1 in the second half to secure their 12-5 victory.
Carthage outshot Kalamazoo 48-21 and held a 38-35 edge in ground balls, while the Hornets controlled face off 11-9.
Logan Gillis led the Hornets with a team-high six ground balls, one goal, one assist, and one caused turnover.
Jake Asnis and
Mitchel VanGalder each added a goal and two ground balls, while
Cam VanGalder and
Grayson Pratt both found the back of the net for the Hornets.
Dylan Adkins dished out a team-high three assists and collected three ground balls.
Brody Quinn was 9-18 in face offs for Kalamazoo, recording six ground balls on the day.
Charles Graves was in the net for the Hornets recording 18 saves, two ground balls and one caused turnover.
The Hornets return to action on Wednesday, March 26
th as they take on Southwestern (TX) in Georgetown, Texas at 6:30 p.m. (CT).
