DAVENPORT, Fla. – The Kalamazoo College baseball team dropped both games of a doubleheader to The College of New Jersey Friday afternoon. TCNJ (9-6), defeated Kalamazoo 9-2 and 11-4, ending the Hornets 10-game winning streak.
Game One – TCNJ 9, Kalamazoo 2
After a scoreless first two innings, TCNJ scored four in the bottom of the third, three in the fourth and two in the fifth to go up 9-0. Kalamazoo scored two in the top of the sixth on
Alex Fenkell's RBI groundout and an RBI single by
Dillon Rodriguez.
TCNJ finished with 13 hits in the game while holding Kalamazoo to seven.
Seven different Hornets had a hit in the game.
Daniel Beccari had a double.
Game Two – TCNJ 11, Kalamazoo 4
Kalamazoo scored three runs in the bottom of the first before TCNJ scored one in the second, five in the third and two in the fourth to take an 8-3 lead. The Lions added two in the sixth before Riar Rinehart's home run in the bottom half made it 10-4. TCNJ added a run in the seventh before closing out the game with the 11-4 win.
TCNJ outhit Kalamazoo 15-9 in the game.
Cade Preissing led the Hornets with two hits. Rinehart,
Logan Lockhart and
David Stechow each drove in a run.
