KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College men's basketball team defeated Albion, 83-78, in overtime on Wednesday (Feb. 5
th) night at the Anderson Athletic Center. With the win, the Hornets improve to 9-11 overall and 2-7 in MIAA Conference play.
The Hornets trailed 33-30 heading into the half. Kalamazoo battled back in the second half, outscoring Albion 37-34 in regulation before closing out the game with a 16-11 overtime performance.
Kalamazoo shot 58.3% at the free-throw line, 41.2% from three-point range, and 36.9% in the field. Albion hit 60% on the line, 33.3% behind the arc, and 40.3% from the field. The Hornets' bench put up 36 points compared to the Britons' 24.
Kalamazoo dominated the boards, outrebounding Albion 48-41, grabbing 17 offensive rebounds leading to 17 second-chance points.
The Hornets had five players hit double-digit points, led by
DJ Ferguson with 17 points. Ferguson shot 5-12 in the field, 2-5 behind the arc, and 5-6 on the line, along with six rebounds and two assists.
Carter Bandemer contributed 14 points, knocking down four threes for the Hornets, while
Lucas Hanifan recorded 14 points, six rebounds, and a team-high of four assists.
Caleb Caul notched up 11 points, nailing two threes.
Bradley Eziuka posted 10 points, six rebounds, and two assists.
