ADA, Ohio – The Kalamazoo College women's lacrosse team fell 16-12 to Ohio Northern on Saturday, moving to 0-2 on the season.
The Hornets struck first but trailed 6-3 by the end of the first quarter and 8-4 at the half.
Ohio Northern outshot Kalamazoo 33-22 while also holding advantages in ground balls (20-16) and draw controls (16-14). The Hornets forced 18 turnovers in the contest.
Ella Spooner led Kalamazoo with four goals, four draw controls, and three caused turnovers.
Abbie Caza added three goals and two ground balls.
Julia Kozal and
Tessa Fuller each scored twice, with Kozal also contributing six draw controls, two grounds balls, and an assist. Fuller made an impact with six assists and one caused turnover.
Marin Miroslavich also found the back of the net for the Hornets.
Kalamazoo returns to action on Wednesday. Feb. 26 as they travel to Illinois to take on the University of Chicago at 7:00 p.m. (CT).
