KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College men's basketball falls to Olivet 74-61 in an MIAA conference matchup on Saturday, Feb. 1
st. The Hornets fall to 8-11 on the season.
The Hornets started strong, leading 38-37 at halftime. The Comets outscored Kalamazoo 37-23 in the second half to take a 13-point victory. Olivet shot 50.9% from the field, 31.3% from three-point range, and 76.5% on the line. While Kalamazoo shot 31.1% from the field, 33.3% behind the arc, and 70% on the line.
Kalamazoo dominated the boards, grabbing 39 rebounds compared to Olivet's 36 and tallying 22 second-chance points. The Hornets forced 10 turnovers swiping seven steals and converting them into 10 points.
Four Hornets put up double-digit points against Olivet, led by
Lukas Broadsword and
Bradley Eziuka, both recording 14 points on the day. Additionally, Eziuka hauled in a team-high eight rebounds, while Broadsword recorded seven.
Lucas Hanifan notched up 11 points for the Hornets on 3-7 shooting behind the arc, and
Carter Bandemer added 10 points sinking two threes late in the game.
DJ Ferguson chipped in six points and two assists.
Nelson Sompa added four points and led the Hornets with four assists.
