CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Kalamazoo College men's basketball team lost at Case Western Reserve University Tuesday, 96-80.
Case Western worked its way to a 50-35 lead at halftime, picking up 12 offensive rebounds in the opening 20 minutes. The Hornets shot 51.7% from the field to the Spartans' 46.3%, but Case Western hit 42.9% of its threes to just 28.6% by Kalamazoo.
A 10-0 run for the Hornets midway through the second half featuring three Spartan turnovers got Kalamazoo back within 12 points, but Case Western was able to regain control and finish strong for the win. The Spartans shot 46.5% from the field and 38.7% from beyond the arc to 46.2% overall and 33.3% from deep for the Hornets.
Lucas Hanifan scored a career-high 20 points with five rebounds in the loss. Gavin Van Kampen added eight points, six rebounds, and a career-high five assists with one steal and one block.
Patrick Perez had 10 points, while Carter Bandemer and Zander Nash both finished with nine. Nash added five rebounds.
Kalamazoo men's basketball (3-8) starts off 2026 and MIAA play on Wednesday, Jan. 7 at Adrian College (3-7) at 7 p.m.
