ALBION, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team was defeated 56-44 in the MIAA opener at Albion College Wednesday night.
The host Britons (6-0, 1-0 MIAA) led 13-8 after the first quarter and 29-19 at halftime. The Hornets were outscored 12-10 in the third and played even (15-15) in the fourth.
Albion shot 35.4 percent overall while limiting Kalamazoo to 28.6 percent. Kalamazoo held a 30-29 edge in rebounds.
Ruby Hogan led Kalamazoo with 13 points, six rebounds, six assists, three steals and two blocked shots.
Elisabeth Wilks added 11 points with four rebounds, two steals and two blocked shots.
Lauren Vanderstelt finished with nine points, 11 rebounds and four blocked shots.
Brittany Miller scored seven points in 21 minutes off the bench.
Kalamazoo returns to conference play at Trine University on Saturday, Dec. 6, at 1 p.m.
