ATLANTA – The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team came up short in a 67-58 loss to Pacific University (Ore.) at Oglethorpe University Wednesday afternoon.
Kalamazoo trailed 17-9 after the first quarter before outscoring the Boxers 18-17 in the second quarter to enter halftime down 34-27. The Hornets outscored Pacific 22-15 in the third to make it 49-49 heading into the fourth quarter. Kalamazoo led 52-49 with 7:43 left before Pacific regained the lead for good with 5:54 remaining.
Pacific shot 38.6 percent overall compared to 32.1 percent by Kalamazoo. The Boxers held a 41-39 edge in rebounds.
Lauren Vanderstelt led the Hornets with 14 points, 12 rebounds and three blocked shots for her 10
th career double-double.
Taylor Dinda added 13 points on 4-of-6 shooting off the bench.
Elisabeth Wilks scored nine points with five rebounds.
Sophia Moir scored nine points with four rebounds.
Ruby Hogan fouled out with seven points, seven rebounds, six steals and four assists.
Kalamazoo plays host Oglethorpe University next on Thursday at 2 p.m.
