Men's Basketball Wins Thriller at Wabash

CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. - The Kalamazoo College men's basketball team won in comeback fashion at Wabash College Wednesday, 85-84.

Wabash earned a 46-34 halftime lead in spite of the Hornets shooting 53.8% from the field in the first half. The Little Giants won both the rebound battle, 20-13, and turnovers, with three to seven for Kalamazoo, over the first 20 minutes.

The Hornets used a 28-8 run to take the lead at 62-60 midway through the second half, with Carter Bandemer knocking down three triples in that stretch. Both sides went back-and-forth from that point, with Connor Kouki sinking a pair of free throws with four seconds left for the win.

Lucas Hanifan led Kalamazoo with 18 points on 8-of-10 shooting with four rebounds and two assists. JJ Stevens was close behind with 17 points, going 7-for-9 from the field, along with a team-high six rebounds.

Bandemer chipped in 16 points, including shooting 5-for-8 from beyond the arc. Patrick Perez blocked three shots to lead the defensive effort along with six points and four rebounds.

The Hornets (3-5) head to Chicago for their next matchup at Illinois Tech (1-4) on Saturday at 2 p.m. (1 p.m. CT).
