NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. - The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team was defeated 57-56 by Westminster College (Pa.) in the consolation game of the Teammates For Life Tip-Off Tournament on Sunday at Manchester University.
Despite falling behind in the opening minutes, Kalamazoo led 19-15 at the end of the first quarter and 39-34 at halftime. Westminster outscored Kalamazoo 11-8 in the third and 12-9 in the fourth to take the one-point win.
Kalamazoo shot 37.3 percent overall compared to 29.9 percent by Westminster, but the Titans made seven 3-pointers compared to three by the Hornets. Westminster was 10-of-16 at the free throw line. Kalamazoo made 9-of-15. Westminster held a 48-42 advantage in rebounds, including 17-10 on the offensive end.
Lauren Vanderstelt led Kalamazoo with a13 points, 10 rebounds and four blocked shots.
Alyse Baughman added 12 points on 4-of-4 shooting and 4-of-4 at the line.
Makayla Allen scored eight points with five rebounds, while
Sophia Moir scored eight points with four rebounds.Â
Semaj' Robertson added six points with six rebounds, five assists and three steals.
Ella Boyea also scored six points.
Kalamazoo returns to action on Wednesday, Nov. 12, with the home opener against Bluffton University at 7 p.m.
