KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team was defeated 66-35 by Bluffton University in the Hornets' home opener Wednesday night.
Bluffton made 10-of-14 shots in the first quarter to take a 22-9 lead. The Beavers outscored Kalamazoo 18-5 in the second to take a 40-14 lead into halftime. Kalamazoo battled back in the third but was unable to cut the deficit in the loss.
Bluffton shot 40 percent overall for the game compared to 20.7 percent by Kalamazoo. Bluffton also outrebounded Kalamazoo 52-36, including 18-13 on the offensive end.Â
Lauren Vanderstelt led Kalamazoo with seven points, seven rebounds and five blocked shots.
Lauren Vos also scored seven points off the bench.
Taylor Dinda scored six points and
Semaj' Robertson added five points.
Ruby Hogan scored four points with four assists.Â
Makayla Allen was second on the team with five rebounds, while
Sophia Moir led the Hornets with three steals.
Kalamazoo is back in action next Wednesday, Nov. 19, at Elmhurst University.
