GRINNELL, Iowa -- The Kalamazoo College men's basketball team lost, 102-74, at Grinnell College Friday in the season opener.Â
Grinnell started fast, building a 53-40 lead at halftime, and outscored Kalamazoo 49-34Â in the second half.
The Hornets outrebounded the Pioneers, 57-49, with 17 offensive rebounds to 16 by Grinnell.
Gavin Van Kampen led Kalamazoo with 14 points, adding four rebounds. JJ Stevens earned a double-double with 12 points and 10 boards.
Carter Bandemer chipped in 11 points, while Connor Kouki had nine points and eight rebounds.
The Hornets will take on Loras in Dubuque, Iowa on Sunday at 1 p.m. CT for their next contest.
