KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's basketball team lost against Bluffton University Friday at Anderson Athletic Center, 72-67.
Bluffton held a slim lead at halftime, 33-32. The Hornets went 6/12 on three-point shots in the first half, but the Beavers led in rebounds (18-15) and Kalamazoo had 17 turnovers to Bluffton's 11 in the opening 20 minutes.
In the second half, the Beavers came alive from beyond the arc, going 8/20 to help close out the victory. Overall, Kalamazoo outshot Bluffton, 49.0% to 34.9%, but the Beavers held a 39-33 advantage in rebounds.
Zander Nash and Nelson Sompa both scored 14 points for the Hornets, with Nash adding four rebounds while Sompa had five rebounds and five assists.
Carter Bandemer had 10 points and led Kalamazoo with six rebounds. Connor Kouki added eight points, five rebounds, two steals and two blocks.
The Hornets (1-4) are back in action Saturday at 4 p.m. at Anderson Athletic Center against Earlham College (0-3).
