CHARLOTTE, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College men's cross country team finished third at the MIAA Championships Saturday in Charlotte, Mich. The third-place finish was the best for Kalamazoo in the MIAA Championships since 1998.
Carson Cook was the Hornets' top finisher, coming across the line No. 12 with an 8K time of 25:34.9, earning him Second Team All-MIAA honors.
Jack Schneider also earned a spot on the All-MIAA Second Team as he finished No. 14 at 25:44.9.
William Thomas and Drew Abbott finished back-to-back at 26:09.4 and 26:09.7, respectively, to take No. 21 and No. 22.
Sam King rounded out the top five for Kalamazoo with a time of 26:50.8, good for No. 41 across the line. Henry Cox finished in 27:09.8, and Tyler VanderZanden came across the finish line at 27:24.6.
Hope College won the championship with five of the top seven finishers. Trine finished second, with Kalamazoo beating Calvin, Adrian, Olivet, Albion and Alma.
It was a strong performance for the Hornets, with six student-athletes recording new personal best times in the 8K.
Kalamazoo men's cross country next heads to the NCAA III Great Lakes Regional in Louisville, Ky. on Nov. 15 at 11:15 a.m.
