KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College men's basketball team fell just short in a 69-68 loss against Adrian on Wednesday night. The Hornets fall to 8-10 on the season and 1-6 in MIAA conference play.
Kalamazoo trailed 37-31 heading into halftime. The Hornets went on a 9-0 run late in the second half to cut a 13-point defect down to three points with just under three minutes to play. Kalamazoo outscored Adrian 37-32 in the second half but fell short in the final seconds of the game.
The Bulldogs shot 43.3% from the field, 34.6% behind the arc, and 47.1% on the free-throw line, compared to the Hornets 38.2% in the field, 20% from three-point range, and 78.6% on the line. Kalamazoo dominated in the paint, scoring 34 points inside and outrebounding the Bulldogs 43-33.
The Hornets' defense forced 10 turnovers swiping five steals and converting them into 10 points.
Lukas Broadsword led the Hornets, posting his sixth double-double of the season with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Bradley Eziuka and
Lucas Hanifan both added 10 points to the Hornets' final score. Eziuka hauled in eight boards, while Hanifan recorded six.
Carter Bandemer notched up nine points, four rebounds, three steals, and two assists.
Nelson Sompa and
Caleb Caul chipped in eight points each.
