Kalamazoo Drops Road Contest to Albion

ALBION, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College men's basketball team fell short against Albion on Saturday, Jan. 25th, with a final score of 79-68. The Hornets fall to 8-9 overall and 1-5 in MIAA conference play.

The Hornets held their largest lead of the game, a nine-point advantage in the first half, before heading into halftime with a score of 38-33. The Britons responded in the second half, as they outscored the Hornets 46-30 to take a double-digit lead.

Albion shot 45.3% from the field, 17.6% behind the arc, and 75% on the free-throw line, compared to Kalamazoo's 36.9% in the field, 28.6% from three-point range, and 76.9% on the line. The Britons outrebounded the Hornets 47-33, recording 22 points of second-chance shots.

The Hornets' defense forced 11 turnovers swiping six steals and converting them into 10 points.

The Kalamazoo bench contributed 31 points to keep the game close compared to Albion's 24.

Lukas Broadsword led the Hornets with 16 points on 6-10 shooting from the field and a perfect 4-4 at the free throw line. He also hauled in a team-high of seven rebounds, five assists, and one block.

Lucas Hanifan and DJ Ferguson each contributed 13 points and three assists to the Hornets' final tally, with both players knocking down three three-pointers apiece. Off the bench, Caleb Caul added nine points and two rebounds.

The Hornets return home on Wednesday, Jan. 29th as they take on Adrian at 7 p.m.
