ALMA, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College men's basketball team defeated Alma 78-67 on Saturday, Jan. 18
th. The Hornets are now 8-7 overall and 1-3 in MIAA play.
Kalamazoo led 30-27 heading into the half. Late in the second half, the Hornets went on a 9-0 run to increase their lead to 16 points. The Scots battled back but could not make a comeback, as the Hornets outscored them 48-40.
The Hornets shot 41.7% from the field, 53.7% on the line, and 28.6% from three-point range. While the Scots shot 39.1% from the field, 40% from the line, and 22.6% behind the arc. Kalamazoo's bench contributed 35 points compared to Alma's 15 and controlled the boards with a 45-37 rebounding advantage.
The Hornets' defense forced 12 Alma turnovers and eight steals, leading to 16 points on the offensive end.
Kalamazoo had four players record double-digit points, led by
Lukas Broadsword with 13 points on 4-9 shooting from the field and 5-10 on the free throw line. Additionally, Broadsword hauled in seven rebounds.
Lucas Hanifan added 12 points on 3-6 shooting from the field and nailing two three-pointers.
DJ Ferguson recorded 11 points off the bench, four rebounds, and two assists.
Carter Bandemer led Kalamazoo with eight rebounds, 10 points, and three assists.
Bradley Eziuka added nine points and four rebounds, while
Patrick Perez put up seven points.

Caleb Caul each contributed four points to the Hornets' final score.
