KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team was defeated 97-43 by No. 19 Hope College at home Wednesday night.
Kalamazoo scored the first two points of the game but trailed 18-6 at the end of the first quarter. Kalamazoo trailed 42-15 at halftime.
Hope shot 52.2 percent overall in the game compared to 31.4 percent by Kalamazoo. The Flying Dutch also made 17-of-26 free throws compared to 6-of-10 by the Hornets. Hope held a 46-26 advantage in rebounds including 16-7 on the offensive end.
Ruby Hogan led the Hornets with 10 points, three rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Sophia Moir and
Jackie Brines each scored seven points.
Alyse Baughman finished with six points and six rebounds.
Taylor Dinda had six points with two rebounds.
Kalamazoo plays at home again on Saturday when the Hornets host Trine at 1 p.m.
