KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College men's basketball team fell short on Wednesday night to Hope College 81-71. The Hornets are now 7-7 on the season.
Kalamazoo trailed 40-18 heading into the half. The Hornets went on an 11-0 run early in the second half to make it 63-52, before going on a 9-0 run to make it a 3-point game with 5:26 remaining in the half.
The Flying Dutchmen responded, bringing their lead back up to double digits, and held on to take the game 81-71.
Hope shot 45.6% from the field, 31.8% behind the arc, and 68.6% on the line compared to Kalamazoo's 35.% from the field and 78.4% on the line.The Hornets forced the Flying Dutchmen to 19 turnovers swiping 11 steals. Kalamazoo dominated down low scoring 42 points in the paint.
Bradley Eziuka led the Hornets with a career-high 23 points on 8-17 shooting from the field and 7-11 on the free throw line.
Lukas Broadsword led Kalamazoo with nine rebounds including five offensive, 13 points, and one assist.
Caleb Caul notched up 12 points, four rebounds, and one assist.
Nelson Sompa and
DJ Ferguson added six points each to the Hornets' final score.
Kalamazoo returns to action on Saturday, January 18
th to take on Alma at 3 pm.
