Volleyball Falls to #15 North Park

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College volleyball team was defeated in three sets at home by No. 15 North Park University in the Hornets' season opener on Friday, 25-17, 25-17, 25-23.

Kalamazoo trailed 17-14 in the first set before the Vikings closed it out on an 8-3 run. Kalamazoo trailed 20-10 in the second set before cutting the deficit to eight and eventually falling 25-17. Kalamazoo led 19-18 in the third before North Park closed out the set, 25-23.

North Park hit .231 in the match compared to .052 by Kalamazoo. The Vikings had seven aces and two team blocks. Kalamazoo had one ace and eight team blocks.

Savannah Chapie led the Hornets with six kills and a .417 hitting percentage. She also was involved in four blocks.

Josee Cooke had five kills and two blocks. Toni Koshmider had four kills and three blocks. Jacky LaFollette had three kills and three blocks. Taylor Stephens also had three kills.

Makala Goddard led the Hornets with 11 assists and 10 digs. Jana Molby had 10 assists and three digs. 

Lizzy Rachiele led the team with 14 digs.

Kalamazoo is back in action on Saturday at Manchester University with matches against the host Spartans and against Wilmington College.
