Men's Soccer Wins 2-1 at Elmhurst

ELMHURST, Ill. - The Kalamazoo College men's soccer team won 2-1 at Elmhurst College on Saturday afternoon. The Hornets improved to 3-2-1 with the win, while handing the Blue Jays (5-2-2) just their second loss of the season.

Henry Plumstead put Kalamazoo on the board first with a goal in the 32nd minute, his third goal of the season.

Elmhurst's Maciej Rzadkosz scored his sixth goal of the season on a penalty kick in the 50th minute to tie the game at 1-1.

Evan Pollens-Voigt scored in the 70th minute (Lucas Ruiz assist), putting the Hornets on top 2-1. Each team had two shots in the final 20 minutes.

Kalamazoo outshot Elmhurst 14-12 overall, 7-5 on goal. The Hornets also had eight corner kicks compared to one by Elmhurst.

Gavin Houtkooper was credited with four saves in goal for the Hornets.

The Hornets return to the Chicago area on Wednesday, Sept. 25, with a game at North Park scheduled for 6 p.m. CT.
