WOOSTER, Ohio - The Kalamazoo College volleyball team defeated Geneva College in five sets at the College of Wooster on Saturday morning.
After dropping the first two sets 30-28 and 25-17, Kalamazoo rallied to win the final three sets 25-18, 25-13, 15-7 to win the match.
Kalamazoo hit .172 overall compared to .141 by Geneva. The Hornets had 10 team blocks and 10 aces. Geneva had eight team blocks and six aces.
Brittany Miller led the Hornets with 15 kills and 20 digs while hitting .244 in the match.
Savannah Chapie had 13 kills while hitting .571.
Hannah VanderLugt had 13 kills with seven digs and six block assists.
Taylor Stephens finished with seven kills.
Josee Cooke had five.
Jana Molby led the team with 23 assists and 17 digs.
Makala Goddard had 109 assists and six digs.
Lizzy Rachiele had 11 assists and a team-high 23 digs.
Rachel Meston had 12 digs.
Brittany Miller was selected to the All-Tournament Team at the conclusion of the event.
Kalamazoo's next match begins MIAA play as the Hornets travel to Saint Mary's on Wednesday, Sept. 18, at 7 p.m.
