KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's soccer team opened the 2024 season at MacKenzie Field against Illinois Wesleyan University with a 1-1 draw on Friday night.

The Hornets struck first in the fourth minute when senior Evan Pollens-Vogit found fellow senior
Jaden Buist for Buist's first goal on the season to take the 1-0 lead.

Kalamazoo held onto that lead for the majority of the match as both teams traded shots at the goal. It wouldn't be until the 80th minute when Mush Bakirdan found Kalabi Kamau. Neither team would be able to score over the final 10 minutes, ending the game in a 1-1 draw.
Illinois Wesleyan outshot Kalamazoo 17-6 overall, 5-3 on goal.

The Hornets return to the pitch tomorrow against Concordia (MI) at 6:00 p.m. at MacKenzie Field in Kalamazoo.
