OBERLIN, Ohio – The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team fell 73-61 on Saturday afternoon (Dec. 7) at Oberlin. The Hornets fall to 2-4 on the season.
The Hornets started the game on a 6-0 run, taking a 28-22 lead into the half. Oberlin battled back and won the third quarter 21-11, to take a four-point lead heading into the final quarter. Oberlin outscored the Hornets 30-22 in the fourth quarter, to claim an 11-point win.
Kalamazoo shot 33.9% from the field while Oberlin shot only 32.2%. Oberlin outscored the Hornets on the free throw line shooting 32-40 (80%) compared to Kalamazoo 18-28 (64.3%).
Lauren Vanderstelt led the Hornets with 20 points shooting 7-18 from the field, 3-4 from the line, and 3-9 behind the arc.
Ruby Hogan led the team in rebounds (nine) and assists (six). Additionally, Hogan notched 17 points on 5-13 shooting from the field and 6-8 on the line.
Jordan Wesaw added 11 points shooting 4-9 from the field, with six rebounds.
Sophia Moir and
Alyse Baughman both scored five points on the day.
The Hornets will return to action on Wednesday, Dec. 11
th in Gambier, Ohio to take on Kenyon College at 6 p.m.
