BLUFFTON, Ohio – The Kalamazoo College men's basketball team defeated Bluffton 84-78 on Tuesday, Dec. 31
st. The Hornets improve their record to 7-3 on the season.
In the first half, the Hornets held their biggest lead of the game with 12 points before the Beavers went on a 6-0 run late in the half, cutting the Hornets' lead to five (45-40) as they headed into halftime.
Kalamazoo held onto the lead in the second half, outscoring Bluffton 39-38, to secure a six-point victory.
Kalamazoo shot 44.1% (30 of 68) in the field and 68% (17 of 25) at the free throw line. Bluffton shot 42.3% (30 of 71) from the field and 34.3% (12 of 35) from behind the arc. The Hornets outrebounded the Beavers 47-41, hauling in 13 offensive rebounds to their 11.
Kalamazoo had four players drop double-digits, led by
Lucas Hanifan who scored a career-high of 19 points on 5-13 shooting from the field, 3-7 behind the arc, and 6-7 at the line.
Bradley Eziuka recorded a season-high of 17 points on 8-17 shooting from the field and eight rebounds.
Lukas Broadsword tallied his fourth double-double of the season, posting 12 points, 11 rebounds, and five assists. Broadsword led Kalamazoo in rebounds and assists.
Dougie Blackwood added 10 points to the Hornets' final score, while
Nelson Sompa notched up nine points and seven rebounds.
