KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team improved to 4-5 on the season after a 65-57 victory over Wooster on Tuesday, Dec 17
th.
The Hornets outscored the Scots 22-13 in the first quarter and 21-14 in the second quarter, to take a 43-27 lead at halftime.
Kalamazoo shot 39.1% from the field and 63.2% from the free throw line, while Wooster shot 42% from the field and 60% on the line. The Hornets outrebounded the Scots 44-30, hauling in 18 offensive rebounds compared to their six. Kalamazoo forced 22 turnovers and recorded nine steals.
Ruby Hogan led the Hornets with 20 points on 8-15 shooting from the field and 4-5 on the line. Hogan dished out seven assists and hauled in six rebounds.
Jackie Brines and
Lauren Vanderstelt both added 12 points to the Hornets' final score. Brines picked up six assists and six rebounds, while Vanderstelt led Kalamazoo with nine rebounds.
Sophia Moir notched up six points, three assists, and two rebounds.
Josee Cooke added another six points and a block.
The Hornets return to the court on Friday, Dec. 20
th at 3 p.m. as they take on Lakeland at home.
