BLUFFTON, Ohio – The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team fell 59-56 on Wednesday, Nov. 20
th against Bluffton. The Hornets fall to 1-2 on the season.
The Hornets trailed by three (17-14) at the end of the first quarter before going on a 7-0 run to begin the second quarter.
Kalamazoo outscored Bluffton in the second quarter 18-7, as they jumped out to an eight-point lead of 32-24 at the break.
Bluffton battled back and won the third quarter 14-12, to cut the Hornets' lead down to six points heading into the last quarter. Bluffton outscored the Hornets 21-12 in the fourth quarter, to claim a three-point win.
Bluffton shot 31.7% from the field while the Hornets fell short shooting only 30.5%. Kalamazoo shot 23.5% from three while Bluffton shot 18.8% from behind the arc. The Hornets went 16-22 from the free throw line for a 72.7% clip.
Jackie Brines led the Hornets with a season-high 20 points on 7-11 shooting and 4-5 from the free throw line.
Ruby Hogan led the team with 11 rebounds and 13 points on 3-10 shooting and 7-10 on the line.
Jordan Wesaw was the third Hornet to put up double-digit points, scoring 12 overall on 4-8 shooting.
Lauren Vanderstelt added six points and 10 rebounds on the night.
Sophia Moir finished with five points and three rebounds.
The Hornets will host Dominican (Ill.) on Saturday, Nov. 23
