OBERLIN, Ohio - The Kalamazoo College women's tennis team won its season opener 5-4 at Oberlin College on Saturday.

Kalamazoo led 2-1 after doubles following wins by Laura Hanselman/Caroline Norton (8-6) at one and Sonal Bahl/Ella Knight (8-4) at two.

Oberlin won the first three singles matches to take a 4-2 lead, but the Hornets won the final three singles matches to earn the win.

Maddy Winarski won 0-6, 7-6, 6-1 at two singles followed by Sonal Bahl's 6-3, 6-1 win at five to even the match. Ella Knight clinched the win with a 6-0, 6-1 win at six.

Kalamazoo entered the match unranked while the host Yeowomen were ranked No. 10 in the central region.

Kalamazoo returns to action Sunday morning with a 9 a.m. match at Case Western Reserve University.
