MADISON, Wis. - The Kalamazoo College women's tennis team lost a pair of matches at the Midwest Invitational on Friday, falling 6-3 to Carthage before dropping a 5-1 decision to Hope.
Kalamazoo trailed Carthage 2-1 after doubles after a narrow 9-8(3) loss at three. Sarah Woods and Sabrina Dass won 8-1 at one doubles.
Carthage proceeded to win four of the six singles matches. Woods won 6-0, 6-1 at one while Dass won 6-3, 4-6, 10-8 at three.
Hope won two of the three doubles points before winning the match with three singles wins. Maria Franco and Sonal Bahl won 9-7. Woods/Dass were defeated 8-6 by Nancy Bend/Marie Holaway.
Woods and Franco were leading at one and three singles, respectively, when the match was decided.
Kalamazoo is scheduled to face Augustana on Saturday.
