Women's Tennis falls 6-3 at Denison

GRANVILLE, Ohio – The Kalamazoo College women's tennis team fell 6-3 to Denison University (Ohio) in a matchup of regionally-ranked teams Saturday, April 12.

Kalamazoo came into the match ranked No. 9 in the Central Region by itatennis.com while Denison came in at No. 7.

Kalamazoo's third doubles team of sophomore Ania Latala and freshman Sabrina Dass defeated Eleni Coleman and Emily Holloway 8-5. Denison took first and second doubles 8-3 and 8-4 respectively.

Dass and junior Olivia Bouchard gave Kalamazoo its other two points and fourth and sixth singles respectively. Dass defeated Heather Abzug 3-6, 6-3, 7-5 at fourth singles. Bouchard beat Coleman 6-1, 6-3.

Senior Kelsey Moran won set one 6-3 at third singles but lost the next two sets 6-4, 6-4. Sophomore Sarah Woods, ranked No. 4 in the region, lost to No. 6 ranked Kelsey Geppner 7-6(7), 6-3. Denison won second and fifth singles in straight sets.

Kalamazoo now sits at 11-4 on the season and resumes its quest of an MIAA championship April 19 against Albion.
