The Kalamazoo College men's basketball team lost 63-51 to Trine University in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play on Saturday.

Kalamazoo never trailed during the first 10 minutes of the game and held a 16-12 lead with 10:38 remaining in the half. Trine used a 13-0 run over the next seven minutes over to grab a 25-16 lead. The visiting Thunder entered halftime up 29-22.

Kalamazoo came within four points several times in the second half, but the Hornets were unable to string together a long enough run to ever regain the lead.

Trine shot 44.6 percent in the game while Kalamazoo finished at 38 percent. Trine also held a 35-33 edge in rebounds, including 10-9 on the offensive end.

Adam Peters led the Hornets with a career highs in points (20) and rebounds (10) with his first career double-double.

Mark Ghafari scored 15 points with six rebounds, two assists, and two steals.

Eric Fishman added six points with four assists.

Kalamazoo returns to action at Olivet on Wednesday, Jan. 30 at 8 p.m.
