Lydia Christian joined the Kalamazoo College volleyball coaching staff as an assistant in the fall of 2022. She was named interim head coach during the summer of 2023, a position she held until Jan. 2, 2024.

Coach Christian came to Kalamazoo after playing four years of volleyball for Adrian College from 2018-21. In her time as a Bulldog, Christian appeared in 31 matches and accumulated 170 digs, 89 assists, 14 service aces, 13 kills, and 27.5 points by primarily playing the defensive specialist and setter positions. Her best season came in 2021 when she was among the team leaders in digs, assists, and service aces. Coach Christian also appeared on the MIAA Honor Roll all four years.

In her last two years at Adrian, her teammates selected her to be on the volleyball leadership team, where she helped develop younger players. She would also be involved in the summer recruitment camps that were hosted by the team.

Coach Christian graduated in May 2022 from Adrian with bachelor's degrees in psychology and business administration. She is attending Western Michigan to obtain a master's degree in organizational behavior management.

Originally from Traverse City, Michigan, Coach Christian now lives in the Kalamazoo area and enjoys hiking, boating, working out, and playing beach volleyball in her spare time.
