GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's cross country team finished seventh at the Calvin Knight Invite Saturday.
The meet consisted of 10 teams ranging from NCAA Division II to NAIA. Grand Valley State won the 8K men's event with the second through sixth-place finishers.
Henry Cox was the Hornets' top finisher, placing 54th at 27:14.3.
Edward Mugisha posted a new personal best 27:36.3 as the second Kalamazoo finisher. Drew Abbott was next across the line at 27:43.8.
The race was a strong step forward for Kalamazoo, with 12 runners posting a new season or career best mark.
"With very muddy and slick course conditions we focused on resilience, fun and progress a week after our opener," Head Coach Kyle Morrison said. "Across both teams almost every runner had a sizable drop from last week to this weekend despite the slow course conditions."
The Hornets' next race will be the Pre-Nationals meet hosted by Carleton College in Northfield, Minn., the site of this year's NCAA III Cross Country National Championships.
