Men's Cross Country Earns 13 Season-Best Results at Augustana Interregional

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - The Kalamazoo College men's cross country team finished 29th in the Gold Division at the Augustana Interregional on Saturday.

The Gold Division featured 37 total teams including eight of the top 20 current men's cross country teams in Division III. All 13 Hornets that finished the race set a new season-best time, with nine runners recording new lifetime best marks in the 8k.

Henry Cox once again led Kalamazoo, finishing at 25:46.3. The mark trimmed 45 seconds off his previous lifetime best mark in the 8k.

Carson Cook (26:05.4) had his best run of the season to be the second Hornet across the line. Sam King followed at 26:11.0, a new personal best for him.

"We had 26 runners compete today and we had amazing performances across the board in very competitive fields," head coach Kyle Morrison said, referring to both the men's and women's teams. "22 runners ran season or lifetime bests. It was another major step forward and big shot of confidence heading into the MIAA meet in two weeks."

The Hornets return to Michigan for the MIAA Cross Country Championships in two weeks on Saturday, Oct. 31 in Marshall. The men's race will be held at noon, following the women's race at 11 a.m.
