KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College softball team split a home doubleheader with Albion College on Tuesday. Kalamazoo won the first game 3-2 before dropping the second game 10-2.
Game One
Kalamazoo broke a 1-1 tie after three with two runs in the bottom of the sixth. Albion scored one in the top of the seventh before being retired.
Kalamazoo outhit Albion 8-6.
Emma Newlove was 3-for-3 for the Hornets.
Jaycee Rider had two hits and an RBI.
London Rabb doubled and scored a run.
Ella Neumann and
Maddie Potts each singled and drove in a run.
Maddie Potts went the distance in the circle, scattering six hits with four strikeouts and three walks.
Game Two
After a scoreless three innings, Albion scored one run in the bottom of the fourth and five in the fifth to take a 6-0 lead. Kalamazoo pushed two runs across in the top of the sixth before Albion ended the game with four runs in the bottom half.
Albion outhit Kalamazoo 12-6.
Grace Rocco had a pair of hits including a double and an RBI.
Emma Newlove had a double and an RBI.
Alyssa Hinkley also had a double.
