ANGOLA, Ind. – The Kalamazoo College men's lacrosse team was defeated 12-4 at Trine in the first round of the MIAA Men's Lacrosse Tournament Presented by Collegiate Credit Union.
Kalamazoo scored the first two goals of the game and led 2-0 at the end of the first. Trine tied it and took a 3-2 lead with three goals in the first 5:02 of the second quarter. Kalamazoo scored with 5:37 left in the second to make it 3-3, a score that would remain into halftime.
Trine scored three goals in the first four minutes of the third quarter and led 7-3 at the end of three. Trine scored five more in the fourth while allowing one to complete the 12-4 win.
Trine outshot Kalamazoo 31-21 overall, 17-12 on goal. Trine won 12 of the 19 faceoffs.
Max Plesscher scored two goals with an assist to lead the Hornets offensively.
Jake Asnis and
Teige Bredin also scored for Kalamazoo.
Max Saxton and
Carson Ihrke led the Hornets with five ground balls apiece.
Kalamazoo finishes the season 6-9 overall with a second consecutive MIAA Tournament appearance.
