KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College women's lacrosse team lost in its first MIAA contest against Adrian College Wednesday, 22-13.
Kalamazoo took a 7-3 lead after the first quarter. Adrian fought back in the second, cutting the deficit to 11-10 at halftime.
The Bulldogs kept charging in the second half, outscoring the Hornets 3-0 in the third to take a 13-11 lead and turning up the offense with nine goals in the fourth to secure the win.
Ella Spooner led the Hornets with four goals and two assists, adding four draw controls and three caused turnovers. Tessa Fuller added three goals and an assist, chipping in a pair of ground balls as well.
Kennedy Hynde, Sophie Hartl and Abbie Caza added two goals apiece to round out the scoring for Kalamazoo. Hynde added seven draw controls, three caused turnovers and two ground balls.
Mackenzie Newhall had four ground balls to lead the Hornets. In goal, Kaitlyn Grice made nine saves in defeat.
Kalamazoo women's lacrosse remains at home to face Alma College on Saturday at 1 p.m. at MacKenzie Field.
