KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College volleyball team was defeated by No. 15 Calvin University 25-21, 25-18, 25-14 inside the Anderson Athletic Center Wednesday night.
Kalamazoo led 5-0 in the first set, 7-4 in the second, and 7-4 in the third, but was unable to maintain the momentum as the Knights came back to win each set.
Calvin hit .278 overall in the match compared to .065 by Kalamazoo. Each team had seven aces. Kalamazoo had six team blocks to Calvin's four.
Taylor Stephens led Kalamazoo offensively with eight kills.
Mya Parks finished with five kills.
Savannah Chapie had four kills with a .375 attack percentage and five block assists.
Cienna Nightingale also had four kills.
Scarlett Hosner finished with three.
Makala Goddard led the Hornets with 21 assists and 12 digs.
Ashley Zollman finished with 10 digs. Goddard and Zollman each had three aces.
Kalamazoo is back in action at home on Saturday, Oct. 10, when the Hornets face Aquinas College in non-conference action beginning at 1 p.m.
