Women's Soccer Powers Past Adrian in MIAA Tournament Quarterfinal

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College women's soccer team beat Adrian College in the first round of the MIAA Tournament, Presented by Collegiate Credit Union, 4-0 on Saturday at MacKenzie Field.

The Hornets came charging out of the gates with two goals in the first four minutes, both on headers by Ruby Hogan. On the first goal, Maeve Nolan sent the ball to the right side of the box for Savannah Norman, who lofted it to the front of the goal for Hogan to head in.

On the second score, Nolan delivered a great corner kick that Hogan again connected on a header from the far post. Hogan then set up Nolan from long range for a blast to the left side of the goal to make it 3-0 Kalamazoo in the 14th minute.

Hogan finished off the hat trick with another header off a corner kick from Nolan in the 23rd minute, and the Hornets held the 4-0 advantage into halftime.

The defenses took over in the second half, as neither side could add to the scoreboard.

Jess Forbis made five saves for the shutout victory.

Kalamazoo heads to #2 seed Hope College Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Van Andel Soccer Stadium in Holland, Mich. for the MIAA Semifinals.
