Women's Soccer Wins 10th Straight Over Saint Mary's

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College women's soccer team won a physical game against Saint Mary's College Saturday at MacKenzie Field in the Hornets' Compete for a Cause Game, 2-1. The win extends Kalamazoo's winning streak to 10 games, the Hornets' first double-digit win streak since 2016 and the fourth in program history.

Anna Courtney put Kalamazoo on the board in the 38th minute for the only goal of the first half. On a corner kick, the ball deflected off a Saint Mary's defender right to Courtney in perfect position in the box to strike it into the top-right corner.

Ruby Hogan capitalized on a defensive miscue by the Belles in the 52nd minute, grabbing a loose ball in the box and driving it home through the right side.

Saint Mary's answered with a goal in the 58th minute for the first goal the Hornets have surrendered at home this season.

Jess Forbis made four saves to help Kalamazoo protect the lead down the stretch and earn her 11th victory of the season. The Hornets outshot the Belles, 32-9 overall and 13-5 in shots on goal, taking 12 corner kicks to three for Saint Mary's.

Kalamazoo (11-2-1, 5-0 MIAA) travels to Grand Rapids, Mich. Tuesday at 7 p.m. to face Calvin University (11-1-1, 4-0-1) in a battle between two of the top three teams in the MIAA.
