KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College men's soccer team overwhelmed The University of Olivet Tuesday at MacKenzie Field in the Hornets' annual Most Valuable Professor game, winning 3-0.
After the defenses controlled much of the first half, Joey Basil launched a throw in in the 40th minute that went through the hands of the Olivet goalkeeper and into the back right corner of the goal to put the Hornets on the board first.
Just 23 seconds later, Nico Scorsone ripped a shot over the head of the Comets' goalie as he charged to defend for a quick strike to make it 2-0 off a great pass from Brody Plumstead.
In the 77th minute, Plumstead delivered a great pass into the box that Ryan Clark made a sliding play on to deflect it to the back of the net.
Brody Adalbert was stout in net once again, collecting his fourth consecutive shutout while making one save. Kalamazoo outshot Olivet, 16-5 overall and 7-1 in shots on goal. The Hornets took four corner kicks to one for the Comets.
Kalamazoo men's soccer (7-5-1, 3-0 MIAA) remains at home on MacKenzie Field hosting Albion College (5-4-3, 1-0-2) Saturday at 7 p.m. for the Compete for a Cause game.
