GAMBIER, Ohio – The Kalamazoo College volleyball team defeated Franciscan University in four sets and Kenyon College in five sets on Saturday at Kenyon. The Hornets have now won four straight heading into their home opener on Tuesday.
Kalamazoo d. Franciscan 16-25, 25-17, 25-18, 25-20
After dropping the first set, Kalamazoo rallied to win the next three sets and the match. The fourth set was tied 13 times and had six lead changes before Kalamazoo finally
came out on top.
Kalamazoo hit .171 in the match compared to .148 by Franciscan.
Brittany Miller led the Hornets with 15 kills, 14 digs and three aces.
Savannah Chapie added 10 kills with a .533 attack percentage.
Taylor Stephens finished with nine kills.
Juliette Bournay had eight.
Makala Goddard had a team-high 31 assists with three aces.
Bella Lewis added 13 assists.
Rachel Meston led the Hornets with 16 digs.
Kalamazoo d. Kenyon 25-22, 24-26, 27-25, 23-25, 17-15
After splitting the first four sets, Kalamazoo overcame a 14-12 deficit in the fifth to win 17-15.
Kenyon hit .212 in the match compared to .190 by Kalamazoo. The Hornets had 10 aces to Kenyon's five.
Tatum Casper led Kalamazoo with 17 kills.
Brittany Miller had 10 kills with 16 digs and six aces.
Savannah Chapie had 10 kills with three blocks.
Taylor Stephens finished with nine kills.
Juliette Bournay had eight kills with four blocks.
Makala Goddard had a team-high 29 assists with nine digs.
Bella Lewis had 20 assists.
Rachel Meston tallied 27 digs.
Ashley Zollman had 10 digs with three aces.
