Grand Rapids, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College women's lacrosse team fell to Calvin, 21-7, in the first round of the MIAA Tournament on Saturday. The Hornets conclude their season with an overall record of 4-13 and a 3-4 mark in MIAA play.
Calvin took control early, building an 8-1 lead in the first period and extending it to 13-4 by halftime. In the second half, Kalamazoo added three more goals but was outscored 8-3.
Calvin held the advantage in shots (42-15), ground balls (15-2), and draw controls (17-13).
Ella Spooner and
Natalie Maki paced the Hornets' offense, each recording a hat trick. Maki also led the team with eight draw controls.
Abbie Caza added a goal for Kalamazoo.
In goal,
Jordan Flink started and took the loss, while
Kaitlyn Grice entered in the second period, recording 10 saves and five ground balls.
