The Kalamazoo College volleyball team came up short in a five-set match against Adrian on Wednesday night inside Anderson Athletic Center. The Hornets won the opening set before the Bulldogs rallied to take the match 3–2 by scores of 20–25, 25–18, 25–27, 25–18, and 15–9.
Adrian hit .180 as a team while Kalamazoo finished at .122.
Brittany Miller and Taylor Stephens led the Hornets with 11 kills apiece. Miller added 18 digs and two aces, while Stephens contributed two blocks. Tatum Casper, Mya Parks and Scarlett Hosner each tallied nine kills, and Savannah Chapie added seven. Chapie also had four block assists, while Hosner had three.
Setters Makala Goddard and Bella Lewis combined for 50 assists, with Goddard posting 28 and Lewis adding 22. Defensively, Rachel Meston led Kalamazoo with 18 digs, while Ashley Zollman added 11 digs and five service aces.
Kalamazoo totaled 10 service aces and 76 digs in the contest.
Kalamazoo's season came to an end tonight as the Hornets were unable to qualify for the six-team MIAA Tournament.
