Andi Phelps Named Assistant Volleyball Coach

Andi Phelps was introduced as Kalamazoo College's newest assistant volleyball coach on Tuesday, January 7th.

Phelps, a 2024 Western Michigan University graduate, brings a tremendous amount of experience as a player and coach to the Hornets' volleyball program.

During her five years at WMU, she played as an outside hitter before transitioning to a libero for her final three seasons. Throughout her collegiate career, Phelps was named an Honorable Mention All-American by VolleyballMag.com, a two-time MAC Defensive Player of the Year, a two-time All-MAC First Team honoree, and a two-time member of the MAC Championships All-Tournament Team.

Additionally, Phelps was recognized off the court for her academic achievements, being a four-time Academic All-MAC selection, a three-time CSC Academic All-District honoree, and an AVCA All-Region recipient.

In addition to her playing experience, Phelps has coached the 14u state team at Dead Frog Volleyball Club, helped coach the Kalamazoo Cougars Homeschool team, and ran multiple volleyball camps at WMU.

Originally from Schoolcraft, Michigan, Phelps became the career leader in both kills (2,000+) and digs (2,000+) at Schoolcraft High School

"I'm really excited to be adding Andi to our staff. Her high level of knowledge of the game and playing experience is going to be a great addition to our program this Fall," said Morgan Lemner, Head Coach.

Phelps is scheduled to begin at Kalamazoo College on January 13th, 2025.
