GREENVILLE, Ill. - A surge of goals in the final five minutes lifted Kalamazoo to a 4-3 win over Greenville University on Monday afternoon.
Kalamazoo trailed 2-1 after 85 minutes of play.
Sydney Hagaman tied it at 2-2 in the 86th minute. Greenville regained the lead in the 87th minute. Less than a minute later,
Maggie Westra made it a 3-3 game.
Ellie Andrews went one-on-one from the left side of the box and scored the game-winner with just 25 seconds left in regulation.
Greenville scored the game's first goal nine minutes into the contest.
Elle Bernas made it a 1-1 game in the 13th minute, a score that would hold until halftime. Greenville pulled ahead 2-1 in the 57th minute and led until the flurry of goals in the final five minutes.
Kalamazoo outshot Greenville 15-12 overall, 12-5 on goal.
Jess Forbis was credited with two saves in goal for the Hornets.
Ellie Andrews was credited with an assist on Bernas' goal in the 13th minute.
Kalamazoo returns home to face Wheaton College on Friday, Sept. 6, at 4 p.m.
