KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College volleyball team defeated Alma College 3-1 in front of an enthusiastic crowd inside the Anderson Athletic Center Friday night. Kalamazoo won 25-17, 25-27, 25-14, 25-15.
Friday's match was a non-conference match as the two teams previously played their conference match this season.
Kalamazoo hit .273 in the match compared to .102 by Alma. The Hornets hit .375 in the third set and .314 in the fourth. Kalamazoo also had eight team blocks compared to five by the Scots.
Tatum Casper led the Hornets with 11 kills and just one error for a .435 attack percentage.Â
Brittany Miller also had 11 kills and one error to hit .357. She also have five assists and shared the team lead with 14 digs.
Taylor Stephens hit .345 also with 11 kills and one error, while assisting on three blocks.
Ava Bechler had eight kills, hit .429 and was in on a team-high five block assists.
Juliette Bournay finished with seven kills.
Savannah Chapie finished with five kills while hitting .364.
Makala Goddard had a team-high 25 assists.
Emerson Arensman had 19 assists.
Lizzy Rachiele shared the team-high with 14 digs, surpassing the 1,000 career digs mark this evening (1,004).
The Hornets are back in action at home next Saturday, Oct. 2, when they take on Saint Mary's College in conference play beginning at 1 p.m.
